Crater Lake Sunrise Colors
Crater Lake National Park tells the story of beauty created from destruction. The giant eruption and collapse of Mount Mazama about 7,700 years ago formed the caldera lake we call Crater Lake today. Two islands developed in the process: the famous Wizard Island that looks like a small volcano within the larger volcano and the smaller Phantom Ship rock formation.
Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, giving its quintessential vibrant sapphire blue color. Photographers and visitors flock to the crater rim to see it's untamed and awe-inspiring beauty. Enjoy these Crater Lake photos, a tribute to the wonder of the Pacific Northwest.
