Smith Rock Castle Ramparts
Segmented rock castle ramparts of Smith Rock State Park contrast the afternoon light with its "welded tuff" rock formed from volcanic ash compressed with extreme heat and pressure. This rock is quite solid which makes it great for rock climbing. Here, one can see the pock-marks from multiple ascents.
