The waterfall of Burney Falls not only comes from the above ground Burney Creek but also through the earth via underground springs. The water falls from a height of 129 feet (39 meters) into a 22 foot (6.7 meter) deep pool. 100 million gallons of water flow over Burney Falls daily, even in late summer.
The falls were called "the Eighth Wonder of the World" by President Theodore Roosevelt, and were declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1984.
